My inspiration began when our second son had a troublesome case of eczema his first year of life and when my first son had been diagnosed with Autism in 2023. No matter what we tried nothing seemed to work to clear up our youngest’s skin. After a night of researching I came across tallow as a home remedy for eczema. It seemed promising. It’s all natural and packed full of bioavailable vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These were all properties my oldest son would benefit from as well. I made my first batch and after 2-3 weeks my youngest son’s skin had been completely transformed. That’s when Lazarus Apothecary was born.

In 2020 I had just stepped back from teaching Kindergarten after the pandemic and having our first son. I started a custom cookie business as a side business while I stayed at home. When our first son was diagnosed, we did a full deep dive into the food we eat and the products we use. Having cookies lying around didn’t quite fit our lifestyle anymore. I had got my feel for starting a business from my cookies and we lived on 5 acres. I had fell in love with knowing where everything from the food we ate to the products we used came from. I researched local farms near me in Greenback, TN to get a hold of some Grassfed beef suet and began learning to render my own tallow after making that first batch. Tallow changed our skin and ever since I’ve been on a mission to share all of its natural healing benefits.
